Temporary Distance Learning Plan

TEMPORARY 100% DISTANCE LEARNING PLAN

Horizon Honors Schools will provide distance learning for all students in Grades K-12 beginning Monday, August 17.

This is LIVE synchronous instruction with your child’s Horizon Honors teachers in real-time. Please note: this is different than the emergency online learning that occurred in 4th quarter. Synchronous learning is when a group of students engage in learning at the same time.

Students will be expected to engage in schoolwork during their scheduled school day times below. Live whole-class instruction will occur every school day from approximately 8 a.m. to noon, with independent at-home work, small group instruction, small group intervention, student services, student support, and limited extra-curriculars in the afternoon.

Specialized services such as special education, 504 plans, and requirements for English language learners will be provided.

All courses will be taught as scheduled, including all specials and electives, except for student intern. Anyone scheduled to be a student intern will be contacted by their counselor as soon as possible with details.

Attendance is mandatory and will be taken at the beginning of every learning block. Lessons will not be recorded. Attendance procedures are available in the Horizon Honors School Family Handbook.

Distance Learning Agreements for both students and parents are required as part of the 2020-2021 Horizon Honors School Family Handbook Acknowledgment and are available HERE for review.
